Frequently Asked Questions

What processes are in place to ensure your visit is safe?

We want everyone to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience whilst visiting our

outdoor, uncovered theatre. Please see how we are Welcoming You Safely.

Is there any covered seating?

The entire seating area is uncovered, so please be prepared for all types of

weather. Be reminded that there is no seating provided, so feel free to bring a rug or deckchair.

What should I wear?

You are welcome to dress as casually or as smartly as you like. The arena is entirely outdoors so please remember to come prepared for all types of weather. Please note that you will be sitting directly on the ground which may not be dry, so we invite you to bring picnic blankets or your own chairs.

Is the arena easy to find?

We are just a 2-minute walk from Rugby’s High Street, located along Barby Road, and a 15-minute walk from Rugby Train Station. Plan your journey by using postcode “CV22 5DP” as

your destination.

What happens if I am late, or need to leave the arena during the performance?

Owing to the nature of the arena, admitting latecomers, and re-admitting patrons during the performance, can be distracting to others in the audience. Whilst we guarantee that latecomers will be admitted, they may be held until we can admit them at a suitable point. Likewise, should it become necessary for you to leave the arena once the show has started, we will endeavour where suitable, to re-admit you at an appropriate point in the show.

What security checks should I expect?

As you may be subject to additional security checks on your visit to the Festival on The

Close, we ask that patrons arrive early. The doors for our headline events open 1 hour before the performance start time. We appreciate your patience and understanding while these are taking place.

Please note that cloakroom facilities are not available. During your visit, please keep your belongings with you at all time.

How should I prepare for my visit if the weather is hot?

Please remember that there is no shelter in the arena, so prepare to sit outdoors. Cover up to protect you from the sun;

Wear a head covering (please note that parasols and umbrellas are not permitted in the

arena);

Apply high factor sun cream;

Drink alcohol responsibly;

Drink plenty of water; and if you start to feel unwell during your visit, please speak to

one of our Marshals, medics or Front of House team.

If the temperature exceeds 40 degrees during the performance, the performance will be

cancelled, and our weather exchange policy will apply.

What time do the arena gates open?

Arena gates open 60 minutes prior to all headline performances; Manford’s Comedy Club, Symphonic Ibiza, Showstopper!, Flawless and Hometown Glory. Exceptions apply - please check information on your ticket.

I need to organise my journey home. How will I know what time the performance ends?

The headline performances at the Arena will close by 10:10pm at the latest.

Can I smoke/vape at the arena?

The arena and Rugby Schools grounds are completely no smoking/vaping. If you wish to smoke, you can do so outside the gates - please head down to the welcome desk

where a member of staff can let you out and re-admit you.

What is the best way to travel to the arena?

Festival On The Close takes place in the historic grounds and venues of Rugby School,

situated in Rugby town centre. You can find more information about town centre

public transport and car parking on Rugby Borough Council's website. If you are travelling by train, the festival is approximately a 15-minute walk from Rugby Station, or taxis are available outside the station.
